I have fairly rated site (google 4) with quality back links to sites like ajc.com and sports illustrated but MSN
will not index my main page, where all the backlinks lead to, and gives more power to obscure pages. Very strange
and I suspect MSN Live is making mistakes.Thursday, August 28, 2008 4:11 AM

Hi, Greg.
You've got the definition of "backlinks" backwards - backlinks are links on other websites that link to your website. Backlinks "link back" to you.
The fact that you link to other websites - from your home page or elsewhere - doesn't count for anything with search engines.

Duane is mostly correct. Your site can get penalized for linking to junky or spammy pages, link exchanges, etc.Friday, September 12, 2008 3:06 PM

the site is crimsontider.com and is way up there in the other search engines. I have back links to several hundred
msn top ranked sites to my main page, but it does not like it for some reason. The code is good and legal, has good
contenet and links to related sites. Something is wrong. Anyway to start over?Thursday, August 28, 2008 4:14 AM -
