Toshiba A300 Windows Vista - This Copy Of Windows Is Not Genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Some help for an Australian please.

I have had this Toshiba laptop since new for about 2-3 years.

It has Windows Vista Home Premium OEM Act preinstalled and never changed apart from Microsoft updates. Well, the only change I did about 3 weeks ago was add an extra stick of RAM.

I hadn't used it for a few days and yesterday when I booted up is says 'Build 6002 This Copy Of Windows Is Not Genuine' in the bottom right corner and MS sercurity essentials says basically the same warning.

Toshibas online help said update to the latest bios - is did that but it said I already had the latest.

I have restored back to a few diffent dates - about a week back, and about 2 weeks back - no luck, still the same warnings.

I have run the WGA diagnostic and get this ...

Your problem is that the OS is unable to properly read the BIOS SLIC table, which is required to be able to self-activate the OEM_SLP Key in use.
You need to change the Key to the one on your COA sticker on the machine's case, using the Change Product Key link at the bottom of the System properties page - you may need to activate by phone.
