CRM2011 Hosted/IFD: 404 error after initial login RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed CRM2011 on our datacenter with Claims based authentication.

After initial login using the external url in the main frame it says: "404 - file or directory not found'.
When you click on any link on the left side like dashboards or accounts, everything works fine.

At first I thought it's the firewall.
But then I noticed the initial url was wrong, it includes the organization "demo.domain.com:444/demo" where it should be "demo.domain.com:444".

If I remember correctly, after initial installation everything worked fine.
It seems to me it happened after rollup 2.
I read somewhere that rollup 1 might fix it, but rollup 2 contains rollup 1 right?
Also installed rollup 3, but that didn't fix it too and 1 funny detail: this update isn't shown in the windows updates list.

If this is a bug, please solve it fast.
How can we show this to our (potential) customers?

  • I may be way off base here, but if you are using Claims authentication and not IFD, you may need to use a host name that does not resolve to an Organization. The Claims/IFD documentation specifies host names like dev, auth, and sts1 as examples. If you setup a generic host name like dev.domain.com, and then access CRM at https://dev.domain.com:444/demo what happens?

  • Everything works fine and I didn't change anything.

The only thing I can think off is that I did a server restart.

  • Hi,

I wonder if the an IIS reset would have fixed the issue after the initial configuration. That might be why the server restart fixed the problem?

Whenever you configure claims and/or IFD, it is a good idea to run an IIS reset before attempting to use the application.

    Thanks,
    Michael
