I can't subscribe eventhough I have already paid for the subscription RRS feed

  •

Please help!  My son originally put his name and password in on his One Care Subscription but when he went to install my laptop, he put my name and password.  Now the One Care says it will end in 13 days eventhough we purchased a one-year subscription.  When I try to go in and subscribe it wont let me put his original name and password in.  It just sits there with my name and I can't change or delete it.

  • Unfortunately, you've encountered a bug in 2.0 that will be fixed in the future. Once you enter a LiveID in OneCare for use in the trial version to enable multi-PC functionality, you cannot change that when you wish to activate a subscription. Your only solution at this point is to uninstall OneCare and then reinstall which will allow you to enter the correct LiveID.

  • Will I be able to install both computers or only one?

  • Please advise!!!!!  Do I have to uninstall both computers or just mine.  His computer is saying the same thing.  Also, will we be !able to install again on both computers.  We have paid for this subscription and this is totally not fair if we cannot get it going.  It is ridiculous that there is no one we can call to straighten this out over the phone.  We only have 13 days before it expires.  I figure it will take me 13 days to figure this mess out

You can install on up to 3 computers per the terms of your license.

First of all, this is a community forum, it isn't instant support.

You have now provided new information. "His computer is saying the same thing" was not mentioned before, so don't go uninstalling anything yet.

You mentioned that the subscription was set up with your email address. So, how come is your son's PC also showing that it is in trial mode? Did you originally subscribe from a different PC or your son's PC? Have you reinstalled OneCare on one or both PCs?

Go to http://billing.microsoft.com and sign in with your LiveID. Verify that you show an active subscription. If not, your subscription is under a different LiveID.

If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate with.

I am not pleased that it is near impossible for a paid subscriber to reach phone or chat support if their subscription can't be validated. However, you can follow the support path outlined in the FAQ - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2 - and open an email case which typically is responded to within 24 hours.

If you purchased your subscription from Microsoft from within the activation process, contact support regarding a refund.
