Live Mesh 2011 for business use RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I'm considering using Live Mesh for business, namely real-time synchronisation of folders to the 'mesh'. I'm somewhat concerned about security implications, if you could please detail the measures that are in place to cater for security as well as the potential for 'mesh' data loss, and even whether Live Mesh is suitable for a business scenerio at all.

    Thanks in advance

you are referring to Windows Live Mesh, not Live Mesh - www.mesh.com

For discussion of the new Windows Live Mesh (formerly Sync), (as well as the released Live Sync version) go here:

In my opinion, security is quite good - encryption via https, LiveID for accessing the service and the cloud storage.

Suitable? That's really up to you. It is a free service. There is always a potential for data loss and support is via a forum (above). For robust business usage, I'm thinking you would want 24x7 phone support.

You're welcome and no problems. :-) With the renaming of Windows Live Sync to Windows Live Mesh, we're getting loads of traffic here for it and very little for the retiring Live Mesh beta.
