How to count the CRM server Licenses on MS CRM 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dears,

Please note that I am trying to find out how CRM Server Licenses are counted. I am using MS CRM 2011 RU 11, I have three Servers:

    - One Front End

    - One Back End

    - One SQL Server

I have checked the Deployment Manager and it is displaying 3 CRM Licenses required noting that the SQL Server does not contain any CRM component. Is there a script or another tool which gives more details?

In addition, what are the CRM components which are considered as CRM License required.

    Regards,

    Joe Mouawad.

  • For any licensing questions it is best to (try to) get a definitive answer from Microsoft, but my understanding is that a server license is required for every server on which you install a Crm Server Role using the main Crm setup program. The 2 server components that don't require a Crm Server license are the SSRS connector and the email router.

So, in your scenario, you should only need 2 server licenses if the only CRM component running on the SQL Server is the SSRS Connector.

Deployment Manager seems to just query MSCRM_Config for the number on non-deleted records in the Server table to get it's count for server licenses.
