How do you remove a password from MS Money 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I can not get into my money 2008 file anymore.  I can not remember the original Live ID which is associated with it.  I have a backup file, but when I go to restore it it prompts for the password, I disconnected the Lan wire, but it still wants the password.  I have 5 years of data in the file and I really need to get it.  I even tried the sanitize.exe, but it wants the password.

This is the second time Microsoft has messed me up like this.  I had been tracking my stocks in the MSN investing tool and then they upgraded it and you guessed it all my information was gone.  This is really poor.  Now I have lost 5 years of financial data because they shutdown the authentication server.  Really poor thinking here.

  • Lucky for me after two days of trying, I was able to remember my old password and removed the live id password from it.  Too bad Microsoft does not sell this product anymore.  I bought quicken and I do not like it at all.  I must say I will remember how MS just drops support for its financial products and will not use the new MSN money or anything else they come up with.

  • MS Stuck,

It sounds like you are really stuck. First you say you "need" those five years of Money data. Then you say you do not like Quicken. Then you were fortunate to "remember" your password so that you could use Money again, and now you say you will not use Money because Microsoft screwed you.  What do you want? Lot's of other users here would LOVE to remember their passwords.
