Integration with DirectTV RRS feed

  • Question

I have DirectTV and their most recent PVR (the HR21-700), which can use sources (music/video/photos) inside my network to play to my home theater setup.  WHS seemed to be a good idea, but the only commercially available off-the-shelf system seems to be the HP EX470/EX475.

The problem is that the DirectTV set-top box requires Intel Viiv compatibility, and nobody at HP seems to know if their boxes are compatible, since they are based on AMD processors.

Has anyone experienced this?  Is there a workaround?  Is there an off-the-shelf system that matches up with the HP systems in terms of storage capacity?

    Thanks in advance -

  • It works just fine with the HR21-700, right now video streaming only works with the CE software release on the HR21 not the fault of WHS but of directv.

I stream my music folder pretty much daily to it as well as photos.

  • Let me make sure that I understand this correctly - you have no problems using the HR21-700 and the EX470/EX475 together?  The Viiv technology thing isn't important?

  • That is correct, Viiv is more marketing hype then anything else http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viiv . If you go over to the cutting edge forums on dbstalk you can see what formats are supported for streaming which is more important then some marketing term.
