Hello and thank you for reading my question, my problem involves my Pinned Apps in the Start Menu of Windows 10 Home 64x.
Sorry if I placed this in the wrong area, the forum listing is extremely confusing.
I did a fresh install to a new computer and fully updated it. A few hours, I noticed unwanted apps and bloatware like Candy Crush and other obnoxious apps where installing themselves to my device without permission. I quickly googled a solution and it involved
editing the Silent Apps Download registry from a 1 to a 0. I did this and it did stop the unwanted apps from installing.
However, I quickly noticed while customizing my Start Menu that after unpinning most of the Default Apps (news, skype, weather, etc.), that when I restarted my computer they would reappear back in my Start Menu. I also noticed my User Pinned (my pins I placed
there) had disappeared and I the option "Pin To Start Menu" did nothing for anything else I tried to pin.
I then re-enabled the Silent Apps Download in the registry from a 0 back to it's original 1. This fixed the Default Apps from reappearing when I restarted my computer and I was able to pin my own Websites from Edge back to my Start Menu.
But now I've noticed, I CANNOT pin anything that was PREVIOUSLY pinned before. For example, before I disabled the Silent Apps regedit, I had YouTube, Netflix and Facebook pinned to my Start Menu and those were the only things I had. Disabling Silent Apps
removed them and replaced them with Defaults that couldn't be removed.
Re-enabling Silent Apps allowed the Default Apps to be removed but now YouTube, Netflix and Facebook will no longer pin to my Start Menu via "Pin To Start Menu" in Microsoft Edge web browser as clicking the option no longer pops up "Would
you like to pin this app the the Start Menu?". I can however pin NEW websites that I had never previously pinned such as GameFAQs and Google.
Can anyone help me out with this? Sorry for such a long explanation, I just wanted to be thorough as possible because everything I contact the original Microsoft Support, they either tell me to Reformat my computer or run a Backup And Restore type of function,
which of course I don't want to do and 99% more than likely don't need to do.
I have an 18inch touchscreen convertible laptop, I rely heavily on my Pinned Apps in the start menu.
*EDIT* Also, to be fair, I'm not even sure if this is what caused the issue, what I am sure of tho is this is the very last thing I did on my laptop minutes before this problem popped up.
