All of a sudden the product key is wrong when I re formatted RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok heres the problem, I have an acer laptop, it doesnt come with a vista install disc. However I wanted to have XP on my laptop because it couldnt deal with vista to a level I felt was decent as XP uses less resources and Laptops aren't the most powerful things at the moment. So I installed XP but I had a lot of problems with drivers. So to fix this i phoned a friend who had Vista Home premium discs (the same as mine was before) and re installed vista with HIS discs but MY product key, now all of a sudden im on a 30 day trial that i cant get out of. It wants me to activate it but it is saying that the key i typed in wasn't valid, but when I run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostics tool it says its genuine and I know for a fact the key is genuine because it came with my laptop. Whats wrong and how do i fix it? Report is below

You can reset your Windows Vista activation by performing the following:

    1. Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type in:  slui.exe 4

    2. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

    3. Select your Country.

    4. Follow the instructions for phone activation.

    5.  Once completed, restart your computer.
