Can't post images to Wordpress - Invalid Server Response Xmlrpc.server

  I use Wordpress to post to a self-hosted blog and have for many years.  I have recently noticed problems posting images in my blogs and get the error message:-

  Invalid Server Response

  The response to the metaWeblog.newMediaObject method

  Invalid response document

  xmlrpc.server

  I have noted others have had this issue but can't find a solution that I understand!!
