Windows Client Forums still has slow scripts RRS feed

143 posts.  Takes forever to open in IE10 (on W8).

BTW Home for that says  Windows Client  but search here

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/categories/

for  Windows Client yields 0 hits?

At first I thought that the whole collection might be a disconnected offshoot created for Springboard but the above problem thread can be found by first searching categories for   user interface

picking that forum and then searching for the thread's title.

Edit: I wanted to remark that this symptom is also being seen on IE9 (under W7).     But in the preview there is no Edit button?     Even opening this thread in its own window found the Edit button in an unexpected place--at the top?

Edit:   OIC.   There is a different UI for OP than for responses.   I hardly ever post an OP so I wasn't aware of that.

BTW as I have mentioned many times:  this editor is still broken!

  • This slowdown is a known issue. Currently the solution is to lock long posts like this. Is that the request?

No request.   I was just reporting the problem after opening it as a search result.   IMO the thread has run its course, so perhaps its participants would like being able to open it quickly for reference.    ;  )

Well, unfortunately the current process is to catch these and stop them before they get this big so that people can reference them without the load time. The only possible solutions now are to either lock it to avoid further posts and more slowdown or to delete or split the thread. A split might actually be the best solution (assuming someone has a ton of patience and that it doesn't stop during the process). Are you a moderator there?

The next step would be to find a Moderator for that forum.

    Thanks!
