This slowdown is a known issue. Currently the solution is to lock long posts like this. Is that the request?
No request. I was just reporting the problem after opening it as a search result. IMO the thread has run its course, so perhaps its participants would like being able to open it quickly for reference. ;
)

Well, unfortunately the current process is to catch these and stop them before they get this big so that people can reference them without the load time. The only possible solutions now are to either lock it to avoid further posts and more slowdown or to
delete or split the thread. A split might actually be the best solution (assuming someone has a ton of patience and that it doesn't stop during the process). Are you a moderator there?
The next step would be to find a Moderator for that forum.
