In 2002, I brought Windows XP, activated it and made one backup copy for my laptop per my license . Over the years, my laptop broke and I did not need a backup. In April of 2009, I purchased a new Dell Laptop to be used as a backup for my desktop computer which runs Windows XP. The Dell laptop came with window VISTA and not window XP. I now need a backup to my desktop and so I installed my Window XP onto my new laptop. I tried to activate my laptop copy via internet and phone, and was informed that I had exceeded my number authorized.
I can find no way to activate my window XP on my new laptop and I can not find a way to request that the number of licenses be reduced to one. Who do I contact to make this request?
Please Activate by Phone again. This time do not enter anything into the Phone Prompt. This should force the phone prompt to transfer you to a Live Activation Rep. The Rep should be able to assist you in activating your Windows XP.
Thank you, Darin MS
