Print Problem: Portfolio Manager view RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using Money 2006 on a new PC operating under Win7 64 bits and IE 9.0.

When in Portfolio Manager view, I can't print my investment portfolio view using CTR + P. I am sure this feature was accessible before. However I can print any reports available in Money.

After some research, I found this report/page is stored in: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\temp.htm and that I can print this report if I dig down to this file location.

Is there a way to fix this without upgrading Money?

    Thanks

  • You may wish to have a look at this thread, http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/money/thread/d044e6f9-dab7-4c8e-9987-5daaeea50024 The reported problem sounds quite similar. Note : Apologies for not making the above URL a hyperlink but I cannot find any option on the reply screen to be able to do it.

  • AshleyST points to the thread which says that IE8 could fix this. I just reconfirmed that switching back to IE8 fixes this, as long as IE is your default browser.

I tried various settings in IE9 to try to make this work with IE9, but I had no success there. It's possible I missed a trick. I added money:// as a trusted site, and I tried loosening a couple advanced settings. No joy.

An alternative if not using IE8, would be to set up a batch file that had just one line in it-- the full path to the temp.htm file. That batch file would be put into a folder that is in your search path.  Suppose the batch file was called, for example, printp.bat . Then run "printp" to launch the browser opened to that file. You could print from there.

  • Hi,

I'm the person that had the printing problem with Portfolio Manager after I upgraded to IE9. When I switched back to IE8 the problem went away. In my case, I really didn't find any special advantages with IE9. At some point, when I get a new computer, I may have to deal with this problem if IE9 is what is installed on the new computer. Good luck.

  • Dominic,

I am and was using Money Sunset when I had the problem. At this point I believe the issue is that some users of Money Sunset and IE9 may have a problem PRINTING the Portfolio Manager report. With IE8 the problem does not appear. My problem occured using Vista operating system. I do not know if this problem may occur with other combinations.

  • I had this problem over a year ago and I solved it by going back to IE8 from IE9. I am still using IE8 however more and more sites are recommending I upgrade to IE9 again.

My question is has the problem been resolved in IE9? I am using Microsoft Money Plus (Sunset version).

If I upgrade to IE9 will I be able to print the Portfolio Manager screen? Thanks. Steve

  • I don't have Money Sunset installed but I'm sure the underlying problem was the IE version, not the Money version.

I've tried CTRL + P to print in Portfolio View with Money UK 2005 and IE 9 and the "Select printer" dialog window shows up,

so I think it may be fixed now. My IE9 is at the latest fix level.

I noticed that you were running Windows 7 64-bit, so I did try it on my test system, which is running that.
