How to update driver from restore cd RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I recently discovered, that I cannot restore a pc with the restore cd. It correctly shows all drivers but it cannot connect to the server. Normally this pc works in the whs configuration without any problem.

I suspect the lan interface is the problem (mentioned elsewere here) - it is a realtek 8168 gigabit onboard lan device. It is correctly (green) listed as the lan device for restore but it does not seem to work.

Question: If I copy a newer driver (which I copied over from the mobo manufaturer's site) onto the ram disk and ask the restore cd to load drivers - will this newer driver replace the older one??

If not - what can I do to have resotre cd  use the newer driver ???

  • Hi,

Have you confirmed that the correct driver version is being used?
The easiest way is to open a recent Backup for the particular Client and copying off all the files in the folder  "Windows Home Server Drivers For Restore". Yoiu could copy these to say a flash drive and then try that during your Restore.
