    Not to sound dumb... just like the title says

    is there a probationary period if one does not pass the test?

    Hi RoninB,

    all this is written down by the the Exam Policy that can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/exam-policies.aspx.

    The Exam Retake Policy is:
    - After the first try you can have a second try after 24 hours
    - after the 2nd try you always have to wait at least 14 days till your next try
    - a maximum of 5 tries per year are allowed
    - You cannot retake an exam that you passed.
