Deleting files as administrator RRS feed

  • Question

  • My HP computer has Windows 8.1, 64 bit.  I am Administrator and only user.  But when I try to delete some files, I get the message:  "You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this folder".  Trying again does not work.

I am not a computer professionsl, just a casual user.  How do I delete these files?

  • Are you sure you're an admin on that machine?  Normally, when a process requires elevation, it'll automatically prompt you to agree.  That's called the UAC.

If you right click on the folder and go to properties, then the Security tab, do you see either your name or the administrators group listed?

    - If you find my post helpful, please mark it appropriately.  Thank you.

  • Thanks.  After I click my name and OK, looks like I can delete.
