  • Question

  • I am little bit confused regarding these certifications.I am a .net developer and I actually planned to take 70-562 exam as per one of my colleagues advice.

But one of my friend said taking 70-536 should be taken in prior before the above exam. I am confused which exam to take first.

I would be happy if some one explains me the differences between the two and which one to take first?

  • Its all according to what you want. If you want a cert in 3.5 then do 70-536 first. It is .NET foundation fundamentals. Then proceed to take 70-562 and the pro exam if you want asp.net 3.5 pro. You should go ahead and start now and get an MCPD in asp.net. Then upgrade when the 4.0 exams are available.

  • Hi

Its the combination of exams rather than the order that counts. So if you feel more confortable doing 70-562 you should do that first. However you will not get the MCTS without completing 70-536 as well.

Most people suggest doing 70-536 due to the word Foundations in the title and while this may be a valid point, if this is your first Microsoft exam I would suggest going for 70-562 first so that you can get the experience of doing an exam and then brush up on the System namespace for 70-536.

The main difference between the two exams. Well 70-536 focuses mainly on the System namespace and the underlying classes of the .NET Framework. 70-562 focuses on the Web technologies such as AJAX and web server controls. There are links in my signature which have guides to these exams and also provide MSDN links to most of the topics as suggested in the exam matrix.
