  • Dear sirs,

    I have problem when try to Configure MS CRM 4.0 Client, the problem is (The request failed with HTTP status 401: unauthorized (CRM 4.0 configuration wizard)).

    but at same tiem I can access by the URL from a Web browser which Intranet  address was specified in (Microsoft Dynamics CRM Configuration Wizard)

    the address was (http://crm/alfanargroup/loader.aspx)

    I have Question?? I sould install configration tools (for IFD) on which computer running crm server & should make setting for each user will work on .

    Note: I want to work on CRM Client now just but I cannot Continue reasone of this problem.

    - Maybe I have problem in (Address)
    - I don't konw how to solve this???

  • If everything else seems to be working fine and you are only gettting the problem for the users installation.

    Please try deleting the Outlook users profile (for the user your trying to install the MSCRM Client) and then recreating the user profile. You get a configuration error if there is an issue with the users profile.

    Please post back if you need help with this OR if this does not fix the problem.

  • Hi, 

    Try adding the MS CRM Server URL to your trusted sites and try running the configuration wizard again.
    Please make sure the Server URL you enter duing the configuration is correct.

    but I have one question? there is any relations between (IFD Configuration)with CRM Client Configuration

    and now I tried again ... then system retrieved the following error that is listed below:

    Yes. When you configure your MS CRM Outlook client you are prompted for two URLs. Your Intranet URL to your server and your Internet URL to your server.

    If the Outlook client fails to connect to the server via the Intranet URL it tried to connect via the Internet URL.

    Your MS CRM Server will only have an Internet URL if it is IFD (Internet Facing Deployment)  configured. So yes there is a relationship between IFD configuration and Outlook client. 

    Do you need IFD configuration to make your Outlook client work? Yes and No. If your Outlook client users are on the domain (in the office / connected to the office intranet) when they connect to the MS CRM Server they will not need the IFD configured server. 

    If your crm users use MS CRM when they are not connected to the office network then yes. You will need an IFD configured server.

    By the way did you add the CRM Server URL to your trusted sites on the machine were you are trying to configure your MSCRM Outlook client as per my previous post?

    if you are trying to configure it as My company option. make sure that you are loged in to your windows with the same username and password that is used for CRM and for your domain. the same was happening for me and I have solved it yesterday

  • The work around is to access the site in browser & when it pop up comes for user id & password just save them & try configuring the crm outlook again. it worked for me.
