    Dear Mohammed,

Thank you for writing to the Inet Helpdesk.

The cause of the problem seems that Windows Home Server on your computer connects to Microsoft’s server to update its IP through HTTP (port 80).

All connections goes out from Batelco’s network on port 80 are being intercepted by our caching-proxy and resent again which will make Microsoft’s server or any other website to see our proxy’s IP instead of your line’s IP.

There are many providers around the world who provide such service (e.g. no-ip and DyDNS), and most of them allow the user to choose which protocol or which port to use for the update, as it is known that most ISPs around the world have intercepting proxies.

Making the domain “*.homeserver.com” bypass our proxy probably will not solve the problem, as such services usually uses some other domain for the update.

To solve this issue, you will need to change the protocol used for the update from HTTP to anything else, it must be available in the application’s settings as intercepting port 80 is done by most ISPs and Microsoft must be familiar with this.

In case the application is designed to use only port 80 and it can’t be changed, we will need the IP address of the update server so we bypass it in our proxy, and you may need to raise a support ticket to Microsoft in order to get the IP address.

Please don't hesitate to contact us for any further assistance.

     Kind Regards,

    Ghazi Sarhan
