Office started giving me a Non-Genuine Msg I have a several year old Toshiba U205-S5021 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a several year old Toshiba U205-S5021 running XP Pro and Office 2003.  Until this week I never had a problem with authentication.  As of this weekend I am receiving an authentication error msg when I start any Office program.  This is disconcerting.  I do not have a lot of extra time to spend on this.  The computer was not out of my hands, nor was there another install of my copy of office.

    HELP

    Thanks

  • The problem is with your copy of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003.  Your Windows XP operating system is 100% genuine.
    Visit Microsoft Genuine Advantage and click on Validate Office.  When validation fails, you'll see information on how to acquire a genuine Microsoft Office license.

  • From your MGA report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2
    Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 - 114 Blocked VLK 2

    Unfortunately, the installed copy of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 is indeed non-genuine.  It is a Volume License which has been blocked by Microsoft due to the original owner having reported the license as lost, stolen or misused.  Volume Licenses are usually purchased only by business enterprises and the minimum purchase is five (5) licenses.  Individuals who purchase genuine Microsoft Office have either Retail or OEM licenses.

  • I am SHOCKED.  I have been running this software for years.  I believe I upgraded the original version of XP that came with the Computer (bought from Costco).  Is there any way I can determine the original Key Code as I have many copies of XP between the multiple computers we have at home and our office?  I would like to avail myself of the free lic. offer.

    Thanking you in advance for ypur help.

    Sincerely

    Ernie
