MCAD & MCSD Deprecated? Best Alternative for C# Only? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All!

Have these certifications disappeared?  I'm looking for a certification program primarily for C# and the MCAD looks promising but it appears that its been retired.  The closest thing I can find now is the technology specialist for the entire .Net Framework (exam 70-536).  Am I looking in the wrong place?  If anyone knows of a certification that is focused on C# w/o the rest of the .Net apps I would appreciate it.  Thank you!

  • Hi

You are looking at the right place. There is no certification only focuses on C# language without the framework. Even MCAD or MCSD which is now retired focused on .Net framework (1.1) in addition C# language.

In 70-536, you have use programming language either C#, VB.NET or Visual C++. Before you start the exam, you have to choose either of the above languages, in your case, you can choose C#.

    Hope this is helpful.

The exam 70-503 is based on .net 3.5 while exam 70-526 is based on .net 2

While each exam is based on a particular version of the .net framework, you actually take your choosen exam with your choosen language - either VB or C#.  I believe that this is mainly because the programming languages are now so integrated within the .net framework there is no need to separate them.

As for which exam is the best, which version of .net do you work with?  .Net 2 (VS2005) or .Net 3.5 (VS2008) and then do with the certification route for that :)

    Hope that helps.

  • Thank you all for helping

    I'm using C# .Net 2 (VS2005) - that would be 70-526?

Read That 70-526 & 70-536 is similar - Are they both the same exam, is 70-536 the latest & best one of the two?

Is this the best C# Visual Studio Windows Exam to get certfied ??

    Please Help, Regards
