Hi, i am not sure if i am posting this in the correct place but i would appreciate any help you can give.

I have windows vista on my laptop which is less than a year old and i just started getting a warning and it wont let me access the internet anymore.

It says: "WSAStartup () failed, or you have the incorrect version of WinSock installed."

and in the top left coner of the little box where there is a white cross in a red circle it has 'btdna.exe'

I have no idea what any of this means, i'm clearly not a techy person but i would really apperciated it if anyone could help or just steer me in the right direction to fixing this issue.

    thankyou again and merry christmas!

  • After checking the issue, it seems this is a virus infection issue. As this forum focuses on Windows SteadyState specific issues, this inquiry would best be posted to security/system forum.

The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the newsgroups regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us.  Thank you for your understanding.

Also, for your information, I suggest you try a free online virus scan on the following site:
