I have checked the Product Key and it shows as Valid and Genuine.
I also don't see anything in the Diagnostic Report that would explain a Non-Genuine issue.
First thing to try (after going to the URL that Dan provided) is go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/ValidateNow.aspx?displaylang=en and click the Validate Windows button.
-If the Validation comes back as Genuine, reboot and see if you still see a Non-Genuine issue.
-If the Validation comes back as Non-Genuine, tel us the exact error message you received.

Your computer was manufactured well before Windows 7 came out, and cannot possibly support an OEM_SLP license for Windows 7 - although it does support such a license for Vista. You would appear to have used a Recovery disk for a different model of Dell computer for this installation (or a repair shop mistakenly did so).

oh ok thanks for that,
it was vista business that im sure was upgraded to 7, although it may have been a fresh install, i cant really remember now
would the solution to purchase a full retail licence rather than use and OEM one ?
is this also the result of a new 'update'Thursday, April 21, 2011 8:41 AM -

It's possible that the 'upgrade' was done using non-genuine disks,,but the probability is that it was a clean install. If you don't want the hassle of reinstalling Vista and then Upgrading then you'll need to buy a Full license for Win7 Pro and then use the Change Product Key link on the System Properties page to change the Key to your new one.If you're prepared for a clean install then use the Recovery media for Vista and then do the Upgrade to whichever version of Win 7 you need/want.

ive only got one set of disks those that came with the licence itself
speaking to a colleague he thinks we tried to upgrade vista to 7 but it wouldnt like it and offered clean install only.
even if i completed a vista - 7 upgrade would it not loop into this again?

No.OEM disks can only do clean installs.Retail and Upgrade (which are classed as retail) disks can install over-the-top of the current OS, (usually) retaining all settings and data (but backing up first is always a good idea!)

so it must have been a clean install, as its an OEM licence, so now im more confused im guessing
my software is genuine but as its OEM it cant be installed onto a machine thats dated older than windows 7 ?

Again no.Your problem is that you installed using Recovery software (or at least a license) from a different model of computer that the one you are using.OEM licenses from big manufacturers are designed to self-activate, and require two things for them to work properly.1) the SLIC table in the BIOS must be the correct one.2) Certificates must be present in the installed OS - and these certificates are only found in Recovery software provided by the manufacturer.Your machine fails on at least test #1, because it doesn't have a Win7-compliant BIOS.OEM System Builder licenses do not depend on the BIOS, and can be activated normally over the internet or by phone (which the OEM_SLP licenses cannot).Your software may be genuine, but the installation is not properly licensed and is therefore non-genuine..

The Windows in your MGADIAG report is retail not OEM
Windows License Type: Retail
If it is upgrade then you need to restore the Windows that came with your computer OR install a copy of Windows that is legit for this computer. It can be the OEM SLP copy that shipped with the computer or any full license retail copy of XP or Vista.
The reason is that "upgrade" means....well, "upgrade" and you have to upgrade from a copy of Windows legit for this computer.

Oh, BOTHER!!You're right - and I apologies to the OP for talking rubbish for a couple of days! (I only wish I could claim it was the first time<g>)@odietvAgain - my apologies.Let's start again....You have what appears to be a valid Retail installation of Win7 Pro - and MGADiag is not showing any problems. Are you still seeing the non-genuine notification??If so, please post a new report - it may show something different.

Yup, me too, I do not see anything in the mgadiag that would explain a nongenuine notice.
Do you get a clean bill of health here? http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/
Maybe Darin can run the Product Key and have a look see?
