WHS rejects desktop client with newhard disk RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been backing up a desktop client for over a month using WHS.

The client had two hard disks.

c: a 500 GB Seagate HD for the system and applicatios

d: a 750 Gb Seagate HD for the data

for a variety of reasons I decided to swap in a new smaller hard disk for drive d:

Using Acronis True Image Echo, I cloned drive D (which contained about 400 Gb of data) onto a 500 Gb Seagate disk

On rebooting the client machine itself works perfectly, but on logging into WHS through the Connection software, I get the following error:

This computer cannot connect to your home server. Check your network connection and make sure your home server is powered on.  If your home server has recently restarted, try again in a few minutes.

Both machines (the client desktop, and WHS) have been restarted appropriately.

Is there any way to make this work, or has the new HD made my desktop into a new machine as far as WHS is concerned?
