crm 4.0 reports error using SQL server 2012 reporting services RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am attempting to migrate a crm 4.0 organisation on rollup 14  which uses sql 2005 for its database server and SQL 2008r2 for reports to a new deployment .  I initially attempted to import the organisation and connect it to a 2005 reporting server but the import failed. I resolved that problem by deleting the reports from the sql database and re-running the import with the intention of manually uploading the reports from backup in the CRM report manager once the import completed.  In the interim , i realised that the original organisation was using a SQL 2008 r2 reports instance I connected to the existing 2005 reporting service instance to complete the import because I had to wait for an sql 2008 server to be provisioned. Now i am told there is only an sql server 2012.  I successfully edited my organisation properties from the deployment manager and replaced them with the connection string to the SQL 2012 report server but now none of my reports work.

In the event viewer of the web server hosting the deployment manaqer, I have an error :

Web service request GetDataSources to Report Server https://report servername/Reportserver failed with SoapException. Error: The path of the item '/orgname_MSCRM/4.0/' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. (rsInvalidItemPath)

Can anyone tell me if what I am trying to do is supported ? I found this kb http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2621054 which
suggests that perhaps i need to install rollup 21 before this will work. is that correct? If so I have a problem because I have multiple organisations that may be broken by installing the update to the deployment.

  • You have to install Rollup21, the feature about Sql Server 2012 is supported in that rollup.

  • Except looking at this article:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2686619/en-us

implies that Rollup 21 still has an issue with reports on SQL 2012. I cannot find any record of a CRM 4 hotfix which addresses this.

Can anyone say if this was released?

    Thanks
