O2 Zest - WM 6.1 Issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased a O2 XDA Zest handset and returned it for a replacement after detecting two problems. The new replacement handset had the same issues which leads me to think that the problem lies with Windows Mobile 6.1.

Issue 1 - Word completion does not function despite the settings being correct. (I have used this feature for years on my PDA running WM 5 without any problems)

Issue 2 - Whichever view I select for the Calendar it will display a different one. E.G. if in Menu/Tools/Options/Start in: I select Agenda View it will display Day View. It is the same problem whichever view I select, it will never display the one I want. (It is the same if I go in via Menu/View and select from the drop-down list)

Have I encountered a freak encounter were two new handsets have an identical fault or is this problem typical for the device?

I have been offered another identical replacement or the option of cancelling my contract and choosing something different. This device has all the features I need and the contract was a great deal so I dont want to let it go. Can anyone help to resolve these issues?

I'm not sure who makes that device for O2, but I wonder if it is HTC?  If it is, I wonder if this thread might help ... it is worth trying.  Although the thread is for a different device, it might offer some "food for thought".

I suppose for a "workaround" that you could try to set it for the one that ends up giving you the view you want ... certainly not a solution but if it works....

It appears as if it might be device specific.  I cannot find anything on the web from other users indicating a similar issue (although thgat does not mean it does not exist.

It would be nice to see if you can try the replacement to see if it works before you have to commit to it otherwise, I think I might consider a different device

  • Got the chance to test a new O2 XDA Guide today and guess what, exactly the same issues. Both the Guide and the Zest are HTC handsets rebadged for O2.

I wonder if these faults are experienced on other devices using WM 6.1.

I will check out the thread you refered to, to see if I can resolve the word completion issue. The XDA Guide has the option of T9 giving the predictive feature to the keyboard.

    Thanks for your help.
