HPC users switch from "Administrator" to "User" on its own for no reason. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi folks

I am running HPC Pack 2008 R2 SP3 on Windows 2008 R2 and experiencing some issues relating to HPC users.

I have an AD group I've added to the HPC Users list in the Cluster Manager as an Administrator.  However on occasion it changes from "Administrator" to "User" on its own!  We've recently found that it occurs every time we reboot the head node, and also at seemingly random times.

If anyone could shed any light on this I'd appreciate it.  Thanks

  • How many head nodes in your HPC cluster? Will it change from "User" to "Administrator" on its own afterward? Or you have to manually change it back?

  • Hi there.  I have just the one single head node.  No, I have to manually add it back.

Any ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks

  • You may check logs I think.

How to enable verbose logging for Management http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff800809(v=ws.10).aspx#log_service.

Once repro-ed again, you may get logs by below command.
    %CCP_Home%\Bin\HpcTrace.cmd getlog mgmt mgmt.txt 5
