Every MSDN Forums page has a title that begins "MSDN Forums Home : " RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Every MSDN Forums page has a title that begins "MSDN Forums Home : ".  This is not what I consider the "home" for a site--which is the single landing page (i.e. only one page should have a title that contains "MSDN Forums Home".  With history buffers and tabs the real estate for text is often small and leads to truncated titles.  For the most part, with forums pages this means tabs and history entries only contain "MSDN Forums Home", making it impossible to tell if a page is indeed not the home page without navigating to it or making the tab active.

For thread pages, I would much prefer the title of the thread be the start of the page's title.  For forum pages, it make sense to simply have the name of the forum (without "MSDN Forums Home").

  • Totally agree. We're going to reverse the order for page titles and make it (thread > forum > brand) or for forum (forum > brand), this should help with tab titles, navigating in the browser, and search engine results.
