Tracing in IIS creates multiple log files starting with {GUID}... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Everyone

We have an app based on ASMX services, hosted in IIS, that logs to txt files using System.Diagnostics.TextWriterTraceListener.

Since IIS uses multiple threads to start different sessions for clients, I suppose that when IIS cannot write to the log file it writes the content to a temp file starting with a GUID.

This is overpopulating the app directory with tons of small "log chunks" that have to be cleaned very frequently.

Do you know of any way to prevent this behavior?

  • Hello,

Thank you for your post!  I would suggest creating a new thread for your question in the IIS forum located here:  (http://forums.iis.net/).

    Hope that would be helpful.

    Have a great day!
