  • Question

  • 746 400 4262  Current points reading

1492 + 4000 =  5492 plus helpful posts so it was 5543 not long ago.

4262 cannot be the correct figure I had 5543 few seconds ago now someone have adjusted it down please add it back.  I cannot understand numbers of users answering questions adjusted down.

  • As mentioned in the other thread, we have found the problem but not fixed it in production yet. That will likely happen some time next week.

Also, not all forums from the old system have been moved over to the new system yet.

    Thanks

  • Yes, I just seem to have dropped a few hundred points. In fact I almost lost a medal.

But nobugz seems to have gotten most of his points back. I'm happy for him.

  • Indeed, happened to me too. I mentioned it in:

I have looked at that thread and by that assumption you still owe me many points because this is my first thread here.  My last thread was in the old forum about a bug in a thread.  I answer questions I have asked only one technical question back in May 2007 which I answered because nobody knows a solution for it at the SQL Server SSRS forum.  So I am waiting for the adjustment because I have used my calculator here and checked others against my numbers.

This is simple addition how Microsoft arrive at the solution is implementation related.

USERA: 696 posts with 377 answered with 4630 points

Caddre: 762 posts with 405 answered with 4340 points.

These numbers need to be explained to me because there is no valid reason for such variance

  • Just another possible victim... I don't keep an exact watch, but I know I had ~4k before the weekend, as I checked last week. Got the usual weekend's spam "marked as answer", and now find ~3500. Very odd.

  • Sam:

Mine look better now. My point score is more than 10 times my answers, as it should be (in my case).

  • Hi Sam,

I'm on the VSTO and Word for Developers forum and with the new recognition system I lost about 500 points. If you pushed a fix down on the 18th, it still hasn't hit the forums I'm on.

    Thanks

  • You might notice that this was July 18, 2008...

The recent loss of points was deliberate, due to (retroactively) no longer awarding 2 points for every response.

  • Thanks David ... obviously I looked right past the year. I'm sitting here laughing at myself :-)

And thanks for the explanation about this change.

  • No problem.

Many of us have urged that threads be locked after some period of inactivity, especially when they have been marked as answered. Almost invariably, additions to old threads are either mistakes, or counterproductive (or both).

But for some reason the forum management is not receptive to this suggestion...
