back-up files

  I have recently tried to back up my files as windows live one care keeps putting up a balloon at the bottom of my screen every time I turn my computer on.  I have purchased a whole set of new DVDs to do this back-up. However when I start the back-up and insert the new disk I get a screen that says "disk has data on it insert a new disk." I have done this six times each time putting in a brand new disk. For some reason I can not get my files to back-up. What am I doing wrong.???  I have a brand new Sony VAIO---- top of the line with a blue-ray disk drive, camera, etc. 4 Gmemory. Operating system is Windows Vista
