  • Question

  • I purchased a copy of ONECARE from Microsoft but have been unable to activate it.  I purchased it using a gmail account which as accepted.  When I tried to activate it the gmail account was not acceptable.  I have a live.com account.  I have a message from Microsoft confirming my purchase.  It was sent to my gmail account.  How do I tie these accounts together.  I think this is the last online purchase from Microsoft for me.

  • If you purchased online with your gmail address as a LiveID, then that is the LiveID you need to use to activate OneCare with. If the password you created for that LiveID is longer than 8 characters, change it to be shorter (note this is not the password you use to sign into your actual GMail account, just the LiveID for that email address) at http://account.live.com and then try activating again.

What happens when you sign into the activation process with yoru GMail LiveID?

If you continue to have problems with activation, please contact support.

I will also email you at the alternate email address you provided. I'll then remove that address from your post.
