How to Incorporate WHS with MCE RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I like WHS.  A lot.  So far, it's done precisely what I wanted it for: backups and centralized, easily accessible storage.  However, I respect its limitations.

How, then, can I incorporate media center functionality with WHS?  Would it be best to build a seperate box with storage to hold my viewable media (i.e. a home theater PC?)  That will get spendy fast, and I'm disinclined to use WHS as a storage backend to transfer video to my "cheaper" front end.

I'm brainstorming for ideas on how to backup my DVD/Audio/Picture content and have it readily available on my two TV's in the house.

    Thanks!

  • It is probably the most requested feature, but there is no official way to do so. I know there's a project to get MCE working with Windows Server 2003, but its not simple and requires that you have a version of Win MCE already.

The official line is a 'two box' solution, I don't think that will change for a while.
