Hi,
My question is why we should use IFD in the promise environment?
I tried publishing crm through external ip address and crm is accesiable through crm. will there going to be problems with using oulookclient connecting through internet?

HI Marwa,
In order to use the outlook crm client via the Internet, without vpn, you will need to configure and setup IFD. IFD will then turn on forms based authentication when clients are connecting outside your network. In addition, you can select to force SSL when connections originate outside your network (highly recommended). Use the ifdconfig tool.

hi,
sorry that i have marked unanswer but i still have one question?
I am in stituation where we have bought certificate for the domain crm.abc.com.
and as I understand to use IFD i have to name organization crm in my situation and on the other hand our company doesn't want
the root business unit in crm to be CRM they want to name it with one of our division names. Can you please correct it me if i am wrogn? and is there is a way to solve this problem if what i understand is correct?

Hi,
If the certification will be crm.abc.com then the org name has to be crm and the root business unit has to be crm. There is no way around that I'm aware of. The root business unit is always the name of the organization.
