  • Hi,

You should always use the core entities Account and Contact. These 2 entities are tightly integrated to other entities like invoices, products, price lists, leads, opportunities, activities, etc.

I am not sure about your business requirements, but apart from Accounts and Contact, you can also user Cases and queues. Cases can be used to create a customer ticketing system or incident management system. Also you can use activities for giving out external communication.

Then you can have custom entities as per your requirements. I don't have any documents or data models handy. These requirements are quite unique and my advise is to create a flow diagram as per your requirements. There are also third party solutions handy. You can also use them.

I hope this helps. If my response answered your question, please mark the response as an answer and also vote as helpful.

  • Thanks for your reply. We are in the process of creating a design. The customer care is one section of the total CRM. We are also using cases entity. You also refered to a third party solution. Where can I get these and will it have the entities.

  • Hi,

Please have a look at the following links:

    http://customerportal.codeplex.com/

    http://crmcca.codeplex.com/

The above are accelerators which are add-on to your CRM system. These are enhancements to your system. These are very handy for rapid development. My advise would be to install it into your DEV environment and then study their entity structure. Base your design on that or you can use that solution as it is.

I hope this helps. If my responses answered your question, please mark these responses as an answer and also vote them as helpful.
