Restore data files to 64-bit PC? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My Vista Ultimate 32-bit PC has been backing up to my WHS for many months without recent incident. I'm thinking about purchasing a 64-bit PC that would come with Vista Home Premium.

Would I be able to restore data files from the 32-bit PC backups to the 64-bit PC? Or would I have to use another method (e.g., copy from PC-to-PC) to accomplish this?

  • Hi,
as long as the backups are in the database, you can also restore files to a 64 Bit system using the Connector software (if you do not catch one of the cases, in which backups cannot be opened by mysterious reasons).
If it comes to data, the most simple way is to copy them to a shared folder on the server.
You could also try the Transfer files and settings wizard to save the configuration to a shared folder and load it to the new machine from there.

    Best greetings from Germany
