  • Question

  • I really don't have any idea what WindowsOneCare is all about.  I needed a virus protection progrgam and subscribed last winter.  Since then, my computer died.  I need to install a virus protection on my new computer. Can I use the remainder of my subscription on my new computer.  Can I also use it on another on-site computer.

I'm not even sure how to get back to WindowsOneCare to find the answer to this question.

  • Hello, Mike.

If you have an active OneCare subscription, you can download it from http://onecare.live.com and then activate it (subscribe) with the subscription LiveID that you originally used. You can confirm the status of your subscription by signing in at http://billing.microsoft.com If you don't see a Windows Live OneCare subscription listed there after signing in, or you are prompted for payment information to subscribe when signed in during the activation process, then that isn't your subscription LiveID.

If it is a new PC and your original subscription has expired, or is about to expire, feel free to leave OneCare in trial mode for up to 90 days before purchasing a new subscription. If, however, you subscribed with a valid credit card last winter, it will be charged at renewal time, so you'd need to determine the correct LiveID for your subscripton.

Yes, you can use OneCare on up to 3 computers at the same time with the same subscription LiveID.
