Registry backup/restore on WHS, slipstreaming installation CD? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

After a reinstall of WHS the update is very sluggish compared to previous experience, in particular updates of .net modules. The installation of a single update of .net takes 30 minutes. When running Cclean I get a large number of DDL's not matching, relating to .net and I fear that something went wrong somewhere during the looong update process. Cclean suggests to delete the registry entries, but before I do that I want to feel safe that Windows 2003 registry backup and restore works as it should on WHS. Anyone?

Has anyone experience from  slipstreaming an installation cd for whs? It appears to me that a reinstall updates about everything multiple times in the process. Or is there a way to get an installation CD with Power Pack 3 status? There must be more than 100 updates and a dozen restarts.

    Have a nice midsummer celebration!

  • You can build a package with the WHS trial disk to include Powerpack 3.

However, Drashna already has an X:\Files edition package with Powerpack 3 (and other updates) included.
