Windows 7 Genuine Advantage Error

Question
-
I started getting a windows genuine error about 3 or 4 days ago, around the time when my computer tried to automatically update. I am running Windows 7 x64 on a Dell vostro. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

See if you can correct the Windows Update issue. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821

Also run the system file checker. Click Start, type 'cmd' in the Search/Run box, and right click on the CMD icon at the top of the results pane. Select Run as Administrator. When the cmd window opens type 'sfc /scannow' at the prompt and hit Enter. When the scan completes close the cmd window.

Download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool found at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012.
Run the Tool, click "Continue" then click the "Copy" button. Return to this Thread and Paste the report into the thread along with a detailed description of the issue you are experiencing.

It started up about a week ago, telling me that windows 7 x64 is not genuine, and requesting that I go to a website to check. When I check, it does not tell me either way whether it is genuine, but it asks me to buy windows again. Also, about 70% of updates have been failing, but the rest work. That is about all the problems I have noticed.

Updates appear to be fixed now. I haven't seen the genuine pop up in awhile, but it doesn't show up often. I will post again if it shows up in the next couple days.Wednesday, April 20, 2011 1:14 PM
