Will uninstalling Windows Live Messenger affect OneCare? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is Windows Live Messenger a “part” of Windows Live OneCare? I don’t use Windows Live Messenger and wish to uninstall it, but I’m afraid to because I’m worried that this will somehow make OneCare less effective or interfere with my current OneCare settings. So my question is…Can I go ahead and uninstall Windows Live Messenger without this affecting the settings or security performance of Windows Live OneCare?

  • Windows Messenger pops up each morning.  I don't want it.  I tried to go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs to delete it, but it is not there.  How do I get rid of Wndows Messenger?

  • Open Messenger, click on Options and uncheck the option for it to load when Windows starts, found on the General tab.
