off topic - Restriction Warning on USB/1349 devices RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Don't know if this is the right place to ask question, but am desperate.

Receiving "Restriction Warning" - "Administrator has prohibited access to USB/1349 mass storage devices."

I am running Windows XP Pro. This message suddenly arrived when I inserted a new 2GB USB stick. It now affects all USB ports including Iomega Zip drive.

Have searched all over for a solution; and while I have found references, there are no actual practical solutions.

    Thanks

The only thing I can think of, though, is that there is a Group Policy setting that prevents users from adding/using USB devices. Somehow, this may have been invoked.

I would also suggest contacting the manufacturer of the 2 Gig stick.
