Two assign messages when you assign records RRS feed

  • Hi,

    I have a customer that want to have emails sent every time you get a record assigned to you by someone else which I figured I would solve with a plugin on assign message.
    Now, when I tested this I was working on a CRM 2013 6.1.3 which behaved like I expected and gave me a message when I assign a record, however the customer is on 6.1.2 and when I run the code there two assign messages are given when I assign a record. I have tested this on a 6.1.1 too and there's the same issue with two assign messages for each assign.

    I can't find anything about this in the release notes for 6.1.3, has anyone seen anything similar?

  • I have seen something like this before... If it recall the solution was to register the plugin on Update of the OwnerId field.

    However based on your requirement I'd recommend using workflows to do this anyway. You can easily run the workflow on assign, and check the owner is not the modified by user before sending them an email. That way the email contents not hard-codded into a plugin, and can be tweaked in the workflow if needed.

  • Thanks Paul,

    The Email isn't hard coded per se since I use an action in CRM to send the email. Owner not equal to modified by is a neat solution. I'll give it a try.
