  • Question

  • Hi,

I would like to do certification on Windows form application. I have gone through Microsoft web site.Still i have doubts to clarify it. IS it required to take the exam 70-536 along with 70-505 .or to get Microsoft certification on windows form application 70-505 is enough? this exam will going to expire July, 2013.Is it  valid to do this certification?

I would like to know free online websites  for practice of these certification exams and labs.

Kindly suggest me the links and exams to be taken as per the new changes in certification

  • 70-505 is based on version 3.5 of the Framework. If you are targetting the MCTS

on ".NET Framework 3.5, Windows Forms Applications", then you need both 70-505 and 70-536.

However, you may choose to pursue a newer certification based on the Framework 4.0. In this case, it is enough to pass exam 70-511 to get the MCTS. 70-536 is no longer needed.

  • I am not aware of any free websites where you can practice for this exam.  You can however purcahse practice tests from:

The MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-505): Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 -- Windows Forms Application Development also comes with a testing engine.

  • 70-511 exam is equivalent to 70-536, 70-505 exam right?

Because i have been working with .Net framework 3.5.

  • 70-511 is roughly equivalent to 70-536+70-505 in the sense that in both cases you get a MCTS on Windows Development (except that the version in the first case is 4.0 while the second is 3.5).

However, there are significant differences between both exams. In the case of 70-505, "Windows Applications" is interpreted as "Winforms", while 70-511 takes "Windows Applications" to mean mostly "WPF".

Both Winforms and WPF are available under both the Framework 3.5 and the Framework 4.0 (with very few differences), so the fact that you have been working under 3.5 is not sufficient to determine which of the exams is best for you.
