Windows Installer 3.1 v2 stops when I'm installing RRS feed

  • I downloaded the software and tried to run it locally on my Virtual Machine (Win XP) but it stops and complains about "Access is denied" when backing up registry key.

                Please reference Windows Installer 3.1 v2 (3.1.4000.2435) Knowledge Based (KB) article located @
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803/en-us . There are troubleshooting steps which you may take attempting to rectify the problem. Also I noticed you have a Volume Licensing Key (VLK) edition of Windows Pro currently installed. Please consult with your corporate systems administrator for guidance prior installing any upgrades on the companies computer. He or She should be able to provide you with a resolution regarding the Windows Installer 3.1 v2 problem you are experiening.  

            Your issue appears to be Windows Update and not Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) related. This Forum is only for support of WGA.
