Custom Workflow gets time out in 2 mins, MS CRM 2015 online RRS feed

  • Hi All,

    We have a custom workflow for the email generation, This custom workflow is triggered using the CRM process on the  status change(Filed change).

    The issue is that sometimes these Process will be in waiting state and gives timeout error. I was thinking custom workflows does not have timeout of 2 mins but still why these issues exists.

    Also on the status change we have similar kind of workflows triggering for the different scenarios unwantedly even though we are checking the condition in the process steps, this could be the reason for the timeout issue.

    So I would like to know,

    • Is there a way to increase the timeout for the workflows to execute?
    • Is there a way to stop the unwanted workflows running on the field change for the different conditions.

    2. the workflow runs or not runs based on the condition, there isn't something like "unwanted" workflows

    Thanks for your reply. Sorry ,the unwanted email I meant here is that, I want all the region workflows to be triggered on the same field change only but based on the condition checked later in the process, But here all regions workflow starts together and will be in waiting state for some time then they are canceled/waiting.

    But the workflow which has to be actually executed for that region remains in the in-progress status for some time and gets time out.(This is not stable, only at sometimes timeout is observed otherwise it is successful)

    Is there a way I can resolve this issue and make my workflow executed always?

  • Hi,

    The workflow itself can run for longer periods and have wait states, the custom workflow activity has a time limit though so if you can design the workflow so you don't have the waits in the custom workflow activity you should be fine. I'm not quite seeing what you're trying to do so it's sort of hard to give any advise. To check stuff that is updated later seems like it will be tough to implement.

  • 2 mins limit is for the Plugins/Activities which runs under Sandbox environment. So there is no way to increase. It is by design.
