How to Turn Off Requiring a Category RRS feed

  • I have MS Money Sunset v17 (Home & Business).  How, if it is possible, do I turn off the requirement to assign a category to each and every transaction I enter in my "personal" checking account (Advanced Register)?  The rationale given in the pop-up message if I don't enter a category is to "distinguish business from personal transactions" and to give accurate reports; and yet this is set up as a personal account and I don't necessarily care about the reports.

  • AFAIK, the only way is to install Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe Sunset. Then that requirement will go away. That will probably be your best action if you are not doing invoicing or other Business features.

    There would be a warning that the business features would go away.

    An alternative is to create a category called Misc or Etc , and just use that when you did not want to be specific.

    Yep; that did the trick.  Thank you so much!  (I can STILL categorize if I want to...I just don't HAVE to, and that was the main thing I wanted.)
