CRM and Virtual Machine snapshots (checkpoints) RRS feed

  • Question

    1. Say I create a brand new out of the box (OOTB) CRM organisation on my DEV VM.
    2. A corresponding database is of course created in a separate VM hosting SQL Server.
    3. I take a snapshot of my DEV VM and name it VirginOutOfTheBoxCrm
    4. I then start customising my VM etc. Those customisations will be added to the SQL SERVER VM database.
    5. I then decide I want to take my DEV VM back to my snapshot: all good.
    6. But I am then really back to the virgin OOTB CRM, because the SQL Server database will have recorded the changes I made in step 4, will it not?

  • Hi,

Yes, you're right. Even if you go back to a snapshot from your DEV VM, your SQL Server VM still holds the customizations and since it isn't consistent with your DEV VM, there might be issues when you go back to a snapshot.
