Exchange & OCS Edge on same machine ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is it possible to have OCS Edge and Exchange Edge on the same machine, so I don't have to place 2 new Servers in my perimeter Network ?
I couldn't find any information about this online.

    Thanks

  • According to the R2 Rescource Kit:

"The Access Edge Server cannot be collocated with any other network perimeter service such as Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server or the Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server Edge role."

    Can anybody confirm this ?
I never read anything about it in the product documentation.

    Thanks

  • According to the Supportability guide you cannot collocate OCS with Exchange UM
But there is nothing about Exchange EDGE server so that may just work

    Supported Server Role Collocation

This section identifies the Office Communications Server components that can be collocated on the same computer and the components that explicitly cannot be collocated. Any combination that is not identified has not been tested and is not supported.

The following table identifies the Office Communications Server roles and components that can and cannot be collocated. In addition to the server roles identified in the table, the following collocation scenarios are explicitly not supported for Office Communications Server 2007 R2:

    ·      Any server role on an Active Directory domain controller

    ·      Exchange UM and Office Communications Server

  • Thanks,

I read that, but I thought maybe someone else had tried collocating these two roles.
I will give it a try, I hope it works =)

  • Hi,

I also found that information in the Resource Kit...
This should also be documented in the Supportability guide.
I'll try to make that request.
