Alarm clock issues with my t-mobile shadow by HTC RRS feed

  • Question

  • i am very new to the windows mobile software and am having a great deal of trouble configuring some settings. i used to have the blackberry pearl and it seemed as though i could almost change any setting i wanted with that phone. my most important problem as of now though is that i had set my alarm clock on the phone for 8 am one morning and since i only need to wake up at 8 once a week, i went into settings the next day and set the alarm clock to " off ". i didn't think much of it again until the next day when the alarm went off at 8am again. i delt with this for about three or four days trying several things to make it stop. i tried changing the alarm time from 8am to 12 noon, and took out the battery and SIM card to reset everything but now i get two alarms going off, one at 8am and then again at 12 noon. i even tried to go back to the t-mobile store and ask them about the problem and they said they had never heard of anything like that happening but none of them had the shadow as their personal phone. can someone with this particular phone please help me fix this problem. and if anyone knows of a website i can go to that can teach me some tips and tricks for this phone that are not in the manual?

    thank you in advance

  • Just to verify, you had the alarm set just to go off for one day?

When it went off the second day, did you uncheck the box in the alarm section?

  • well the alarm section looks like this:

    alarm time:
    08:00 AM

    alarm:
    Off
    every day
    weekdays

  • just another quick question, would it be easier to use my calendar alerts as a form of alarm clock?

I use the Alarm all the time so it should work for you too.

so which option should i pick?

So when I set my alarm, I go to START/SETTINGS/System Tab and pick the Clock&Alarm icon

There are three alarms that can be set

To the left, there is a checkbox to enable  (or disable ) an alarm

The time can be set and the choice of days to highlight for the alarm

So it sounds that yours is different ... and both our devices are HTC devices but I'm currently usinng the Touch.

How do you access your Alarm function?

  • mine does not have any option like that. i go to settings/ clock & alarm/ alarm and it brings up what i put in the last post, i have two options. i can set the time i want it to go off, and i can set whether it goes off every day, weekdays, or off. it is probably the worst alarm settings i have ever seen and i have had a number of different phones. there seems to be a lot of things that i cannot change with the settings on this phone. are there ways to change things that i just don't know about? thank you for responding so quickly by the way, i really appreciate your help.

  • i have noticed an interesting development in my alarm clock issues with my t-mobile shadow by HTC. i went back to the t-mobile store where i purchased the phone and a regional manager was there who had the same phone and had a similar issue. although with his phone it did not ring the alarm multiple times, however with the alarm he had set it rang whether he had it on or off. he advised me to go into start/ settings/ clack & alarm/ alarm and when youre in there there are two options with the soft buttons. on the left there is one that says "done" and on the right it says "cancel" he told me to press cancel to make the alarms stop ringing. this seemed like the wrong advise to me since in the other applications on the phone that cancel option is there so that you can cancel the changes you have made. but i tried it several times since the alarm has somehow stored 3 seperate alarm times. while i was still at the store the alarm for 12 noon went off even after i had canceled the alarms the way he told me to. he looked at my phone again while it was going off and said that if you hit "dismiss all" while the alarm is going off it will now cancel that alarm and any other alarm you had set for the rest of that day. but at 12:21 pm another alarm rang!!!!! i am so frustrated at this point and i do not know where to go for help. is there a number for HTC tech support that can help me because obviously the personel at t-mobile do not know what is wrong?
thank you for trying to help me Help_Line, i hope you can be of more help.

  • I've had this same issue and I bought my phone 8 days ago. I'm going to see if I can bring it back and get something else as it is EXTREMELY annoying and there seems to be no easy fix. And, seeing as this is a 4 month old post or so...it hasn't gotten better.  I believe T-Mobile gives you 14 to return it.

It's a shame as this phone is the perfect size, it has it's issues(small QWERTY keypad, loud/indiscrete vibrate mode, scroll wheel is pretty useless circularly) but is a great compact, basic web-enabled phone.  Too bad!

  • go to allshadow.com or www.modaco.com they should have a utility that you can download so that you can clean up the alarms. hope it works.
